King of Daytona XR200 Class Addition to Daytona Vintage Supercross

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 19, 2023) – MX Sports, producer of the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross (RCSX) and Daytona Vintage Supercross (DVSX), is excited to add a King of Daytona XR200 class to the lineup of racing on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. With help from Blake Wharton and Jordan Lake, the class is looking to add a richness of vintage racing for both racers and spectators alike. There will be a mixture of racers, making it a classic Pros vs. Joe’s event. 

“It is exciting to have this class added into the mix for the 2023 event,” said Blake Wharton. “A chance to hold the inaugural King of Daytona title is something that a racer will be able to talk about for years to come.” 

To run the class, you just need to have any year XR200/R with front and rear drum brakes. The motor must be a XR200, but all other modifications are open, so therefore you can have the “run what you brung” approach. 

 Former AMA Pro Supercross and Motocross racer, Kevin Windham also said, “this is the most fun I’ve had on a dirtbike in over ten years.” 

Pre-Registration is preferred for this event and can be found online HERE. You’ll also receive $20 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Race Gas credit uploaded to your Rocky Mountain account. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to make one in an email that is sent to you. 

“The heroes of motocross meet the top garage building joes in the country for this event inside Daytona International Speedway,” continued Wharton. “This looks to be the ultimate Pros vs. Joe’s vintage race.”

The 14th Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross will take place Sunday, March 5th through Tuesday, March 7th at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
